Ultraviolet Disinfection
Ultraviolet (UV) disinfection is the inactivation of microorganisms by exposure to UV radiation. A water treatment technology, UV disinfection can inactivate or remove many waterborne pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria, and parasites like Cryptosporidium and Giardia. Because it does not use chemicals, UV disinfection can also minimize the production of potentially harmful disinfection byproducts during the water treatment process.
